Leucistic Jackdaw - 19/04/2011

This is the leucistic jackdaw (Corvus monedula) living wild at Chester Zoo, and called 'Ashley' by some of the zoo's regular visitors.

The bird has been at the zoo for some time although not publicised, but recently there have been a few images and questions posted here and on Facebook so I don't think it's much of a secret any more and therefore warrants a photograph.

It's thought that the bird is Chester's rarest individual inhabitant.
