I am glad you uise the name Lilacine Amazon instead of the new Ecuadorian Amazons, I'm sure other Amazons are found in Ecuador so the name is meaningless

There are not many things I call by new names!! I am a little unhappy with myself that I do use "Green-winged Macaw" as the first specimen I remember (a singleton that lived with an Agouti at Sewerby Zoo in the 1960s) was labelled as "Red and Blue" and I always used that name when mentioning the species in anything I wrote for "Mainly About Animals".
I have a field guide to the birds of Ecuador, and it lists Red-lored, Festive, Orange-winged, Scaly-naped (I should be calling it "Mercenary"!), Yellow-crowned and Mealy Amazons. Obviously the Lilacine would have been included as a subspecies of the Red-lored when the book was published.
