I agree. However,I may say that they have tried their best. The zoo is the second oldest in Japan and thus have a lot of oldstyle exhibit(no bear grotto though). It is small and located inside kyoto. They can do little things. At least the gorilla can play computer there.
P.S. they have a rescue center next to the zoo to save animals in the wild.
I think the computer games for the apes is a part of Kyoto University's project. Also the zoo seems to send keepers and researchers to foreign lands such as Africa and SE Asia for research and training.
