what soet of barrier is there at the viewing side of thsi enclosure ? it looks as if the lions can climb down the sloping front. i assume there must be a more vertical barrier out of sight?

This terribly small and bare enclosure is actually a steeply walled grotto, and there is a cement impediment to the big cats escaping. I would bet that the lions spend all their days on the grassy section and rarely climb down into the dry moat (assuming that they can), which means that the size of the exhibit leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks for that Snowleopard I can see a concrete edge, but didn't know if that was in or outside the enclosure, Looking at some of the other photos Penguin, sea lions enclosures in the tulsa zoo gallery.I wonderd if they had a viewing window below ground level that looked into the dry moat which the lions could access.
I now realise it is just a poorly designed/ outdated enclosure.
