This exhibit opened 20 years ago and it has showcased Lion-Tailed Macaques for the duration of that time period. However, that species is being phased out of AZA zoos and Woodland Park now has Francois' Langurs listed on its zoo map. The new species will make its public debut this summer and I visited the zoo today but none of the employees I questioned gave me an exact date for the monkeys to make their first appearance. Two of the employees had no idea what I was talking about! I pointed out that the langurs are featured on all of the new maps located on the grounds but they didn't seem too interested in regards to which monkey was in and which monkey was out.
That's a shame in some ways, macaques make great displays and this exhibit would show their more terrestrial activities well - in contrast the Langurs would be better displayed at tree level, as the Zoo's Orangutans are. They should add Langurs elsewhere, and keep macaques.
