sternotherus carinatus or minor, razorback or loggerhead musk turtle juvenile on back of of south american tortoise. this species climbs tree branches to bask in flowing water.
Thank you again wally war eagle. Having seen this specimen alive and compared with pictures on the web I'm now sure it is Sternotherus minor, a species not listed for the Stichting Schildpaddencentrum Nederland on Zootierliste.
