Well, I was reading in one of the monthly reports (link: Bureau of Engineering , just click "monthly status report" and go to page 23) that there is $2.1 million in interest earnings from Prop CC that could cover the $1.8 million short fall that caused the jaguar exhibit to get cut out of the project. So hopefully it gets approved and the jaguar exhibit can get built.
Did they have Jaguars around the time I was there? I don't recall them.
As to the Uakaris, I don't think they were on exhibit then either, I got to see them because I was there with Bob Barnes, whose name you might know; a friendly southerner whose position I can't remember exactly; he was one of the Curators though. I hope he is still alive and well.
The zoo still has them but they now live in the old china pavilion exhibit that is not open to the public. The animals are viewable from a distance though.
