Interesting succulent. The Los Angeles Zoo (as well as San Diego Zoo) is a fully accredited botanical garden, in addition to zoo. Considering what a massive concrete urban sprawl Los Angeles is, there are some very nice large open space botanical gardens. Descanso Gardens in the foothills to the north (about two miles from where I grew up), The Arboretum in the San Gabriel Valley, The Huntington Library also in SG Valley, the Sepulveda Basin in San Fernando Valley, plus others I am sure I am forgetting. Also, Griffith Park within which the Los Angeles Zoo lies, is a massive natural area - I believe the largest city park in America.
