More stereotypical behaviour, similar to over-grooming in Bonobo and Mangabeys, bar-licking/chewing in Okapi/Giraffe etc. Everyone notices 'pacing' in Big Cats, but these other behaviours are more subtle.

It's quite interesting that the stereotypical behaviour which is most often noticed and lambasted is, theoretically, the one which causes the least actual damage to the animal in question - whilst these more subtle behaviours can and do cause physical damage.
Before this sign went up, I'd assumed that the loss of hair was due to vigorous mating. The bald patch looked like the shape of Xander's body to me.
