Lowland Anoa calf Chester Zoo 2 June 1999

Male Lowland Anoa (Bubalus depressicornis) calf Asterix. The first of this species to be born at Chester Zoo. This enclosure stood where the Arara Picnic Lodge is now. It also housed Collared Peccaries and the Bagot Goats, and possibly pot-bellied pigs (not sure on that one).

Three anoas have been born at Chester, all males, I've edited my original description as I thought Asterix was a female. Births occured in 1999, 2000 and 2004.
The last baby went to a Scottish collection, the name of which I have forgotten. The 2000 calf went to West Midlands I think, don't know about Asterix.
