Madge the Malayan Tapir

Madge the Malayan Tapir. She was in the house at the top of the paddocks, and the other house is still fenced off labelled as quarantine.

This photo shows her unusual markings well, with the white stripe running up her neck.

What date did you take this on. By the paddocks do you mean the house thats just before the otter enclosure?

Well if the EXIF data is correct, then 15-06-09.

A mate for her maybe the reason why the other house is fenced off?

This was taken yesterday (15th).
As you look at the normal tapir house which is fenced off this house which she was in is on the right.

That would be nice, but the house has been fenced off since before the baby and Colin the male died.

Maybe the quarantine signs are for the tufted deer which is in a little pen in the corner of the larger of Madges paddocks - the one which is mainly grass?

I don't know though, it's a mystery!

Never noticed this before... Have looked at several other Malayan tapir photos, all have the black area extending completely over the neck and shoulders. This female seems to have an extension of the white colour extending where it should be black.
