A pair of cape ground squirrels (Xerus inauris) inside the Rhino House in the Africambo section of Magdeburg Zoo. These species can also be seen in their outdoor exhibit which they share with dwarf mongooses (Helogale parvula).
Inside the Rhino House are also indoor viewings for eastern black rhino (Diceros bicornis michaeli), Tanzanian black-and-white colobus (Colobus angolensis palliates) as well as a couple of reptiles.
The Africambo I area is the first phase of the new African savannah area opened in 2010. The whole area is 20.000 m2 and features many African savannah animals. The second part, Africambo II, will feature a new elephant exhibit.
