Malayan black magpie (Platysmurus leucopterus)

Depok Bird Market, Surakarta, Central Java
I never actually expected to see this species in this specific bird market (Which I had been previously informed was quite mundane in term of bird species). It was obviously a wild caught bird, though suprisingly quite docile and less stressed out (Atleast at first glance). There was only one individual in the entire market (Pictured), the seller even boosted to me how "rare" this bird is. While this species aren't included in the list of protected species by the Indonesian government, the Malayan black magpie has been threatened in the wild, including of course by exploitation for caged bird trade.

While its special for me that I was able to see and photograph such an interesting species, I try to minimize any profit and engagement to private sellers or holders as much as possible.
