Nominate subspecies from the Malay Peninsula, Singapore, Sumatra, and Borneo. This species are well distinguished by their large and dark body, thicker rows of spines, and white furs on the nape area.
It appears they have returned, or even never even left in the first place. From my understanding, the porcupine exhibit in the Safari ride was originally signed and inhabited for Malayan porcupines, before adding another hystrix species and resigned as Sumatran porcupine (H. sumatrae) and now Sunda porcupine (H. javanica). It appears Taman Safari might have a mix of all three species, though wether they truly have the Sumatran porcupine or not is still questionable.
