Malayan Tapirs

JungleWorld- Malayan Tapirs. February 17, 2013. Apparently one of these two are new and hopefully the new arrival marks the beginning of a breeding program at Bronx.

I always thought the zoo had 3 tapirs for the past few years. One in zoo center and two rotating in jungleworld.

I always thought they had two- one in here and the other in the Zoo Center (not that I've ever seen anything in that exhibit). When I posted that there were two on the Bronx News thread, however, several people told me the zoo only had one so I'm going to guess that the zoo has recently brought in a second for breeding.
