This tiger exhibit at the San Diego Zoo is excellent, but I wish that the back fence wasn't so apparent when looking across the enclosure. However, the steep riverbanks created in the habitat are brilliant, and there are many viewing angles from which visitors can see the tigers.
I think that there is no greenery because of the cubs. that also happened at the LA zoo when the tiger cubs were born as they always like destroying the plants when they are playing.
you are probably right. I hope San Diego replants the exhibit when the cubs leave because when I visited the habitat in November 2007 it was mind-blowing how realistic the habitat looked. It was so green and lush. Did LA replant at all?

I like how shade it is. Most exhibits you see are always really open and bright most animals especially in Florida take refuge in any shaded spot they can find unless its early in the morning or getting close to dark. I hear San Diego's got some pretty hot weather.
