Male, Toby, who arrived from Ostrava earlier this year.

What happened to Toby's tail ?

An introduction to the two females didn't go well.

@Onychorhynchus coronatus Unless there have been any developments during lockdown, the situation now (to the observer) is that they just tolerate him. He was injured again a couple of years after this, and one of the females lost part of her tail the following year. The females are a mother and daughter with a strong relationship so maybe it would have been better to separate them and let Toby deal with them one at a time.

@Gigit Poor old Toby, primate introductions can be very rough indeed.

@Onychorhynchus coronatus He's earned a place on my list of special animals that have to be visited every time I go to the zoo.

@Gigit I'm just thinking, wouldn't it have been better to try to pair him with a different group or female at some other zoo ?

It seems like a difficult arrangement for him and the females to live with so I'm wondering why they don't look for alternatives.
