Do you know if they have bred them?

Have they had them that long? Never seen a baby tamandua, I imagine they're pretty cute.

I think that they have been at Colchester since 2005/2006, they have not bred yet, but I'm sure they are hoping to breed from them. At the moment they are found in the 'Wilds of Asia' building which also houses Asian reptiles such as Turtles, Sail finned lizards and Burmese pythons as well as has indoor accomodation for the Lion tailed macaques. I have only managed to see them once in all the times I have been to colchester, which was at night for the 'Shreik week' at halloween. Viewing is also restricted by the fact that there is an open air fish tank in front of the viewing windows. I read somewhere that they will be moving to the south american tropical house when it is built, more appropriate accomodation!

Thanks for the info, I'd like to see these in more collections. I've only seen the one at Newquay and all he did was sleep. Shame, I think they're awesome :)

Spent a good part of an hour searching for the tamandua at newquay, but when he/she finally showed itself i clambered from the back of the enclosure right up to the glass in front of me :D
