Maned-wolf exhibit - Brasilia zoo

@Onychorhynchus coronatus Yeah, definitely a good habitat, and zoo Brasilia has quite a few maned wolf exhibits, all of them very well enriched (they have something around four or five enclosures, once maned wolfs probably reproduce a lot in our beautiful national capital) and they also have a glass viewing area in this particular exhibit, but once I unfortunately forgot to photograph it, I'll send you a link from a picture from the zoo's archive that I found and shows it.

@David Matos Mendes I totally agree and I think Brasilia zoo has had pretty good success with breeding the maned wolf (I think that of all Brazilian zoos only Sorocaba zoo has had a greater success with the species).

The thing with maned wolves in zoos here is that they are constantly being brought into zoos as animals injured due to some anthropic activity to be rehabilitated or because they cannot be returned to the wild. Sadly there is never a shortage of these victims being brought into captivity.

I assume that as the capital is located around prime Cerrado habitat this is also the case in Brasilia zoo ?

Oh yes, we unfortunately have this issue... a few days ago five baby maned wolves arrived at Brasilia zoo after they lost their mother... don't know if she died for anthropic causes, but unfortunately these are the most common causes of dead/injured animals indeed... mainly in Brasilia, I bet, cause I have heard about many cases like this in there.
Ah, yes, and I do think that Brasilia is the second of the list when talking about maned wolf reproduction...(maybe Sorocaba is number one worldwide too, no?) maybe a thread listing and talking about a few brazilian zoological institutions and their specific "specialty" on respective species reproduction program considering nationally or worldwide (ex: Sorocaba with the maned wolf, BH with the gorillas, Brasilia with the giant otters, etc) would be kindda nice, wouldn't it?

@David Matos Mendes Oh yes, I think I saw this in the globo news a couple of weeks ago about the maned wolves cubs at Brasilia zoo.

Sorocaba zoo too has recently had maned wolves cubs also. I really dont know if Sorocaba is number one worldwide but I definitely think it must be in the top 10 of zoos with the highest breeding success of the species.

Most definitely within Brazil it would be Sorocaba and BH which have maybe done the most for this species ex-situ and to be honest (without naming any names..) they have consistently put a lot of other Brazilian zoos to shame in this regard.

That is a cool idea for a thread and I agree so shall we start it ?
