Mappin Terrace Panorama - 12/05/2012

A panorama shot of the Mappin Terraces at ZSL London Zoo.

Editorial: this landmark area (in both senses of the word) is now "Outback", and home to wallabies and emus. Personally, I think it's a huge waste of what is still a very impressive zoo exhibit.

Is the "Outback" theme considered a temporary use of the space, does anybody know, or is this pretty much a permanent exhibit?

I visited London Zoo in 1997 right after this exhibit had been converted into a sloth bear exhibit. I remember seeing ads that said "The bears are back" or something like that. It seems like there still might be room there for a decent bear exhibit, but perhaps not.
