marine otter (Lontra felina)

How many of the otter species have you seen in person now, @Giant Eland ?

@DavidBrown I've been stuck at 10 since getting Neotropical and then Marine Otter at Los Ocarros and then Huachipa in 2012. I had never seen a wild otter until 2020 and have managed 6 of these 10 wild since then (bolded)!

4.) (Hydrictis maculicollis) spotted-necked otter
5.) (Lontra canadensis) North American river otter
6.) (Lontra feline) Marine Otter
7.) (Lontra longicaudis) Neotropical Otter
8.) (Lutra lutra) European Otter
9.) (Lutrogale perspicillata) Smooth-coated Otter
10.) (Pteronura brasiliensis) giant otter

I spent 12 hours across three different boat trips looking for (Lontra provocax) southern river otter on Chiloe Island, Chile- but alas no luck.

I believe the rescued (Lutra sumatrana) Hairy-nosed otter has since passed away in Cambodia.

@Giant Eland Have you ever attempted seeing the Congo Clawless otter? Such a unique-looking species, and one not many decent photographs exist of!

@Nix I haven't really! Was a possibility for one section of my Uganda trip last year, but we "only" saw Spotted-necked Otter. Looking on mammalwatching.com I saw one trip mention seeing them in Gabon.
