The Aquarium is in the blue-frontaged building on the left.
Matlock Bath is an odd town; perhaps best envisaged as a seaside resort mistakenly built about as far from the sea as you can get in the UK. It has all the seaside trappings - besides an aquarium, it's awash with fish and chip shops, amusement arcades, gift shops, a kiddies theme park - it even has a promenade of sorts and annual Illuminations.
Admittedly the mining museum and the cable car to the hilltop caverns of the Heights of Abraham don't really fit with the otherwise seaside-y theme...
It's quite a pleasant town though, and opposite the aquarium (across the river) is the Lovers' Walk park area, which has its own place in zoo history. There have been various small animal displays there over the years, but most significantly two bears called Adam and Eve moved from there to Chester at the start of the thirties - two of the very first animals to arrive at the nascent zoo.
