May 2013 - Jungle Trails - Congo Peafowl Exhibit

For the past two summers, this aviary has housed (a) scarlet macaw(s) and a helmeted curassow, with the male Congo peafowl being moved to the indoor aviary within the African building; Here just recently, the macaws have started chewing on the wire mesh, and, thus, have been taken off exhibit; however, the curassow will not be alone for long, a pair of particularly peculiar birds will be joining it on exhibit in this aviary... Let's just say that these birds will fit in quite nicely with the overall primate theme of Jungle Trails ;)

Hoatzin???

While hoatzins would certainly be an amazing and bold addition to the collection, they are not hoatzins... They are, however, capuchinbirds! 1.1 capuchinbirds will be moving into this exhibit sometime over the next couple of weeks or so. They have actually been at the zoo for a good year or year-and-a-half now, but they are just now going on display for the first time.
