Are all these 'Night Hunters' exhibits as grim as they look? A lot of mock-rock gunite and hard surfaces with very little natural substrate to be found anywhere. Are there small outdoor enclosures attached to this building or are all the animals still inside 24/7? This building would probably be better suited to less glamorous mammals...maybe there is need for yet another renovation into a 'Mouse House' like what is found at the Bronx Zoo.
@snowleopard The building's quality is no different from the Cat House days. The only animals that received upgrades are the genets from their tiny home in Jungle Trails, vampire bats and flying foxes from their days in the Nocturnal House. There is one outdoor cage (that I'm sure you saw yourself), for an elderly bobcat. I used to defend this in some ways when I was younger but the more and more I visit other zoos, the more I see that this is not normal. In fact, as soon as I receive the software in school, I'm going to redesign this entire area and render it into what DRAGONS! almost was: a small cat conservation area. I'll see what I can do to pitch the idea to the zoo's social media groups (which contains higher ups) This is all fantasy talk, but hey, a Zoochatter can dream, can't they?
As for the clouded leopard, the sad silver lining to that situation is she is elderly, and won't be around much longer. In fact I was told she swtiched exhibits with the bearcats so she'd have more ground room. I pray they don't replace her with another leopard.
@Moebelle A great model is the soon to open cat center at the Greensboro Science Center. Its gonna have sand cat, black-footed cat, fishing cat, and serval. All but the sand cat will have outdoor displays.
@nczoofan I've had several followers push me towards the Science Center, and I've always over looked the suggestion until recently. History shows my viewers tend to stay away from episodes without the word 'zoo' in the title. But after reading up on the place, I want to give them as much exposure as possible. Do you happen to have any info on this cat Center? I can't seem to find much.
@pachyderm pro I was literally just thinking this a few minutes ago. Sharing my renderings (I have no idea when I'll get the software), and how I would change certain zoos for the better. Going into Graphic and landscape design and carrying the knowledge I possess of zoos, my goal one day is to convince one to construct one of my ideas.
@Moebelle May I ask what type of computer you have? There are quite a few good art applications that can work for what you are trying to accomplish. If you have Windows I suggest speedy painter (from experience). My artist friends tell me Procreate is great if you have a Mac.
