May 2025 - African Plains - Giraffe Enclosure

IMHO, while the Philadelphia Zoo is overall pretty good, the African Plains section could use some serious work.

@Ebirah766, I agree; especially if they can combine the zebra/rhino yard with this disgrace of a giraffe enclosure into one large savanna. At the very least, the zoo should replace the concrete-looking floor with actual substrate.

Is there more separation between visitors and the wooden fence than just these stones?

There is a simple barrier to keep guests back from the concrete wall / stones, but that’s about it. (not pictured; can’t remember what material it’s made from).
