The mexican black howler monkey, aloutta pigra, is a protected species in Mexico. It is also found in Belize and Guatemala, but sadly has disappeared from other central american countries. I do not know if there are any of these primates in North american or european zoos. Chapultepec zoo has 3, an adult male, a female and this juvenile.
