@drill Anas diazi is much darker and always has a yellow bill.

@birdsandbats exactly. I actually thought these were American Black Ducks when I first saw them since I've never seen proper Mottled and hadn't heard of this species beforehand. Patagonia Lake is apparently the only spot in the United States where a pure population of these ducks can be found.

The bird on the left may be a hybrid with Mallard. Also, there are more places in the US with pure Mexican Duck than just Patagonia Lake.
