Deer Forest

Mexican Hairless Dog

Wow. I don't think I've ever heard of this breed, let alone seen it. Are they treated the same as typical zoo animals? Or kept more as pets? Interesting exhibit too, but do they use the climbing structures at alll?

They are just a breed of domestic dog. So lack any ability to climb etc. Treated here as a zoo exhibit obviously- a shame really as they could equally be pets and so have more interesting lives than this.

they are kept the same as the other zoo animals, in the South American section near the giant anteaters. When I was there the dogs were difficult to view and impossible to photograph because the glass front on the cage was so dirty.

They don't use the climbing structures. In fact, this enclosure used to keep sloths temporarily, and the climbing structures didn't be moved out.
