This is one of five female Mexican Wolves at the Columbus Zoo. We have an eleven year old female who is exhibited with her four daughters, part of a litter of nine that was born on April 23, 2005. Since 1993 we have bred 36 wolves and have released a significant amount of them into the wild. One of our released males is the alpha male in one of the more successful wild groups. Their yard is almost an acre in size and of all our exhibits these animals are ranked by guests as the toughest to find. Normally when I visit, I'll spend a great deal of time there showing guests where they are because almost all of them miss the wolves.
I really appreciate your informative comments on the Columbus Zoo photos, and it's great to learn more about the inhabitants at such a terrific zoo. When I was there in the summer I had a devil of a time attempting to locate the wolves!
