What is it? Was in the area of the monkey islands but was not actually on one of the islands. In fact it appeared to be free roaming as it was sitting on a branch next to the path between the islands.

Singapore Zoo doesn't display Javan Langurs afaik and this one appeared to be free roaming so what was it doing there? It seemed unconcerned about the crowd of people looking at it and taking its picture from only a few feet away.

Yes, Singapore Zoo does have Javan langurs and 3 are free roaming around the Primate Kingdom area. This is the female, and there is a dark morph male. The female was heavily pregnant when you took this photo, she gave birth in June.
To me animals that are free roaming, i.e., not an exhibit are not really zoo animals. I mean you can't go to see them in a specific place and are actually unlikely to ever see them unless you are a regular visitor. Also if there are 4 and only 3 are free roaming then where is the 4th kept because I'm sure it's not an exhibit?
Anyway I'm just delighted to have seen my first Javan Langur so thanks for the ID and the info about her pregnancy.
