These glass boxes are intriguing enclosures, as like the sun bear exhibit it appears that the mammals can be viewed from all sides by zoo visitors. Usually such enclosures are constructed indoors, and it is rare to see an outdoor exhibit that is all glass. There probably is a lot of smudged fingerprints on those tanks!
Not to mention any vestige of private space to provide visual retreat from other animals or the public. Someone clearly never read any Heini Hediger before designing these torture chambers.
