The musk ox exhibit in San Diego later became the Sichuan takin exhibit up on Horn and Hoof Mesa near the Skyfari West (Current maned wolf and 4D theater). So presumably they stopped keeping musk ox before 1989 when the takin came in from China.
This was a forgotten photograph recently rediscovered in an old photo album in my garage. I had totally forgotten the Musk Ox at the San Diego Zoo, and had thought San Francisco was the only zoo I had ever seen them at back in 1980.
