Nakuru is the fourth offspring and first daughter of Rukiya, who descends from a well represented and extensive line that began at Taronga Zoo in the 1950's. Her father Zabulu was a purebred Rothschild's bull and sired several calves as Auckland Zoo's breeding bull.
