snowleopard

National Museum of Natural History

July 2008. Washington, D.C.
I read in one of my books it states he was over 13 feet to the shoulder and his weight more than 10 tons, thats big

I have just done an internet search and it says he is 8-ton, 14-foot-tall African elephant.

In my copy of the "Guinness Book Of Animal Facts And Feats" (By Gerald L Wood) 1976.

States,

The largest accurately measured African elephant on record was an enormous bull shot by J. J. Fenykoevi the Hungarian big game hunter in Angola in 1955, on it's side measured 4.01m or 13ft-2 inches. It state's he must have been over 12ft 6 inches in height at the shoulder in life.

The weight was estimated at 10,886 kg or 10.7 tonne/ 24000 pounds.

This animal went on display in the rotunda of the US National Museum in Washinton on the 6th march 1959

Wasn't this animal over stuffed to make it look bigger?
