Panthera tigris
This Bengal Tiger was shot by King George V following the Coronation Durbar of 1911. The hunting trip to Nepal killed 39 tigers. (Today there are only 150 tigers in Nepal, and they continue to be hunted illegally, primarily for traditional Chinese medicine.) Six hundred elephants were used in the hunt. The skins and skulls of the tigers were given to several museums in Britain. The Norwich specimen was mounted by Roland Ward Taxidermists for ?42.
