I can definitely recommend a visit to the Museum, not only for the natural history sections. And if you happen to like teapots, then you're in for a real treat!
The natural history specimens originate from multiple sources, including early 20th Century hunting trips, Victorian collecting expeditions, customs confiscations, donations from local natural historians, etc. The polar bear in the photo was shot by Sir Savile Brinton Crossley (1st Baron Somerleyton) in the late 1890s.
Aha! You noticed the camera! Yes, the Canon and I are usually inseparable. However, on this occasion, I was heading straight from the Museum into an evening of hostelry-sampling I wanted to travel light, and so chose my aging Sony compact, which takes slightly better photos than my ancient phone. So, it wasn't a photographic reason (I'll definitely have the Canon with me next time I visit), just a practical one!
