Neolamprologus multifasciatus is the smallest of all cichlids. They live in sandy area of Lake Tanganyika, sheltering and breeding in empty snail shells which accumulate in these areas.
@DaLilFishie Paul Loiselle, the cichlid expert who was Curator of the New York Aquarium, once told that the most popular exhibit in that aquarium was the little tank which held a group of multis: visitors were fascinated by watching the adults going in and out of their shells and trying to spot and count the tiny fry doing the same
