Neolamprologus multifasciatus pair

Hobbyist's home aquarium, 1991.
Neolamprologus multifasciatus is the smallest of all cichlids. They live in sandy area of Lake Tanganyika, sheltering and breeding in empty snail shells which accumulate in these areas.

@DaLilFishie Paul Loiselle, the cichlid expert who was Curator of the New York Aquarium, once told that the most popular exhibit in that aquarium was the little tank which held a group of multis: visitors were fascinated by watching the adults going in and out of their shells and trying to spot and count the tiny fry doing the same :)
