I've enjoyed the long discussion on the new Bird House at the mighty Berlin Zoo on various threads, even though from photos the exhibits do not seem trend-setting and in fact are fairly straight and basic cages. The outside portion of the house seems to have more potential, but does this photo show the finished article? Where are the perches? With the low bushes and small rocks will this area feature desert species? Will there be lots of pheasants? How many enclosures will there be?
These pictures give a General Impression but they are outdated by now. Everything looks a bit different by now and there are more plants and decoration. I have visited the place and really enjoyed it (and so did most People I met/ talked to). The outside aviaries are linked to the inside ones. Overall they have 50 aviaries and 3 halls with some 104 species of birds.
snowleopard: While I can't say for sure, I doubt there'll ever be a big pheasant collection in this bird house. It seems reasonably clear, and this is supported by the bird lists that have been published so far (though I also hear it'll be expanded from the current), that it primarily will have smaller and medium sized birds, as well as parrots. The majority of the species on the published list are open country, shrubland and woodland birds, but there are also some that originate from rainforests (mostly parrots and doves, but also some other). For quite some years the big pheasant collection has been in the Tierpark and I suspect it'll remain like that.
