This starts next to the Guinea baboon enclosure and runs upto The Drive near the mangabeys

wasn't this always a very narrow footpath?

I don't think there was a footpath here at all, only southwards from here down past the Gorilla outdoor enclosures. There was a very long narrow one further down, which took you up to the Elephant area. I imagine this will now replace that and will allow pedestrian visitors to complete the (new) shorter walking circuit, taking you back up to the top road?

Its ashame they've closed off the Batchelor enclosure with the older Silverbacks
