During our "behind the scenes" tour today the head keeper talked about a new kind of light bulb used. He said all the bulbs must produce enough UV to keep the animals healthy. The older bulbs emit UV for only 6-8 months and must be replaced. The new bulbs used here will emit UV for up to 7 years. In addition to the convenience he said it is very cost effective.
