New Shark and Ray Touch Tank

September 1, 2012: This new area is excellent, especially when compared to the old ray touch tank.
Another unique feature is at the end of this exhibit, there is a spot children can crawl into. A window is right above their heads and the children are presented the oppurtunity to see a ray's mouth and bottom if a ray chooses to swim up to the window.

How far does it extend for? Those nurse sharks seem a little cramped to my eyes.

That crawl-in sounds cool. The tank is 6,000 gallons and more than 90' of pool edge, according to their website. Which gives the animals no reprieve from the visitors. The touch tank at NEAQ, is over 50' long and 25,000 gallons of varying depths and mangrove shelters. The back wall is solid with a painted mural, affording the inhabitants chances to escape visitors.
