The zoo's new west entrance (it opened in May of 2010) has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's Green Building certification system.
In 2007 Woodland Park's Zoomazium (a $10 million indoor play area/nature center) was the first zoo project in North America to receive LEED Gold certification.
