Giant Eland

North American least shrew (Cryptotis parva) 2010

Wow! Not a species you see often in zoos. Was this animal off exhibit or viewable to the public? How many did they keep and did they breed them? Also, which part of the zoo was this? In the Small Mammal House?
 
@UngulateNerd92 These were on exhibit in one of the small enclosures in the Small Mammal House for a number of years. It's been a while since I was at Philadelphia but I'm pretty sure they did breed them and the numbers fluctuated depending on whether there were litters.
 
@Gondwana ah ok. I will say that your photos seem fine to me. I will admit myself that even my photos depicting live animals could be of better quality... Museum specimens I think are my strong suit hahaha...
