North American Least Shrew (Cryptotis parva) being held by Loggerhead Shrike (Lanius ludovicianus)

Taken in Horsnby Bend, Austin.
This will be useful for when I get around to a photographic guide featuring shrikes :) not quite so useful for the current guide which will feature shrews, thanks to my personal rules relating to the use of deceased animals for photographic guides :P

To be honest, I might well relax that one to some degree for this thread given a lot of the photographs in question will be of freshly-deceased animals rather than mounted specimens, which is the main thing I prefer to avoid using.
 
@TeaLovingDave I think the shrew was still alive at this point, I watched the bird capture it from the ground and hold it like this for a while before it finally dug in by wedging it onto a branch.
