North Luzon cloud rat

Exhibit shared with tree shrew, Elephant House, Chester, 29th October 2016.
Phloeomys pallidus. A real challenge to photograph. Their enclosure has such a maze of assorted branches, palm fronds and leaves that the cloud rats are hard to see, even when they come out of their favourite corner to feed. In addition the lighting is dim and from different sources, producing odd colour casts in my photos, which I have tried to correct but they still look funny in this image (I tried a black and white conversion, but it looked even worse ).
But the cloud rats are wonderful.

Great photo. Seeing them is a challenge enough (so far I've failed) but having tried to photograph the shrew in that same enclosure, know what problem that is.
