It is not much bigger than it appears in this photo. There is a waterfall to the left in which the bear can walk underneath and a bit more room in the water but that is basically it.Absolutely no natural substrate what so ever,a very poor and outdated exhibit.
Does Cleveland still have 6 species of bear? While that may seem impressive, none of the animals have great enclosures as they are basically all kept in outdated grottoes. Other than the expansive hoofstock paddocks the entire Northern Trek area of the zoo badly needs a rejuvenation. Wolf Woods is fairly new and still spectacular but it isn't always considered part of the Northern Trek zone.
Cleveland currently houses 5 Species of bear, all in substandard enclosures.Wolf Wilderness is considered part of Northern Trek its simply not part of the original area. With Elephant Crossing set to open this week one must wonder whats next on their agenda.Bears or Primates? There can certainly be a case made for either.
