Parrotsandrew

Now that is what I call a superb parrot, 30th June 2014

Actually, being British, I call it a Barraband's Parakeet.
Ooh no, I don't even call a Roseate Cockatoo a Galah.....and as for using Major Mitchell's instead of Leadbeater's. Mind you, as we are using an Australian site................

Never heard of a Barraband's Parakeet. I have a lot of Supurb Parrots here at the moment. They winter in my area and leave to breed just south of here in the summer.
I always hear them before I see them as they have a loud call so I always know when they are around.

The spend most their time up the top of trees and usually I just see them silhouetted flying over. I hear them more than see them. I have a video of about 50 digging up sown wheat beside my house somewhere. I have never got around to putting it on you tube.

.and as for using Major Mitchell's instead of Leadbeater's. Mind you, as we are using an Australian site................

That's an interesting one. Both names must be fairly old and pretty well established. I prefer Leadbeater's also. Nice species to see in the wild btw...:)
