The aviary has a pool at the front (under the sloping blue roof) with viewing windows to watch them diving, but unfortunately the viewing window now cannot be seen through due to clouding of the plastic (photo of a scaup diving, from 2008
http://www.zoochat.com/396/nz-scaup-dive-tank-30679/). What may appear in this photo to be a scaup diving in the pool is just a sign showing what it would look like if one could actually see into the real pool.
The aviary also contains a hand-reared tui ([i]Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae[/i])
