When I visited on August 3rd the heat in Arizona was almost unbearable, and thus many of the animal cages had hoses poking through the bars and there was an attempt to flood the bottom of the enclosures. There was a long line of chainlink exhibits that had a layer of water on the bottom, which must have helped cool down the animals but it also limited the already tight space allowed for the inhabitants.
