Would this be before they moved into the brilliantly redeveloped former polar bear pit?
I only had the chance to visit the Calderpark zoo once before it closed, highlights for me were the brilliant reptile house and Asiatic black bear enclosure, my first maned wolf and the fact what a perfect site for a zoo.
I read only recently in an old article about the refurbishment of the old bear pit for ocelots and some studies that were to be conducted. the enclosures at the time were of a reasonable size and allowed quite a lot of privacy for the animals. Unfortunately I only visited once as it was during a sabbatical year and i was actually living in Edinburgh at the time.
